Tilly and the Buttons 3: Suki Dress

Hi, everyone!

I am 2 months into working from home– which is crazy! It feels like time has been moving so slowly and at the same time it’s crazy to think it’s already been 2 months! So far, I’ve been doing a lot of random stuff around my house- I’ve painted the kitchen, bathroom, and one hallway, fixed a dresser, made new towel holders for my bathroom, re-arranged some furniture, and replaced some. I guess it’s safe to say, I’ve been going a little stir crazy! Also, I may have been online shopping a little more than I should- much to my boyfriend’s dismay– shh! haha the trick is to get to the door before he does so he can’t see how many packages there are!

Anyway, to the point of this post, I just wanted to share my latest creation from Tilly and the Buttons: Make it Simple- the Suki Dress.

P.S: please ignore my quarantine hair! I am in desperate need of a hair cut!

Side note: the fabric I used was not my first choice for this pattern but it was the best option from my stash. So, it is what it is. But I have been so obsessed with colour lately so I decided to do some colour blocking which turned out better than I thought it would!

This is an easy make but, so far, it has taken me the longest out of all the projects in this book (because of the belt and the color blocking).

Overall, I really liked this pattern. I want to make it again in a chambray or maybe linen.. what fabric do you think would work well?

After all the effort to make the belt, I think I might like it better without it?

Thanks for reading and happy sewing!

  1. I would avoid making it in linen. I made it in a 100% cotton linen look fabric and it had far too much body. I hate the way it looks on me. Yours looks nice and delicate so I’d stick with something light like that. Enjoy though.
